No one knows you better than yourself.

UOK Therapist Jenny Ellis

Hi, I’m Jenny, but you can call me Jenn.

It’s completely natural to be curious about your therapist — after all, you’re trusting someone with your most personal thoughts, feelings, and experiences. I remember having so many questions about my own therapist when I first started personal therapy, too.

My own extensive experience of being in therapy is absolutely central to the way I work. I believe that to accompany you to those deeper places within yourself, I must be willing to go there in myself too.

I’ve lived a colourful life (and I’m not just talking about my hair, which changes shade fairly often)! Those experiences give me a grounded, real-world perspective to draw from — while always centring your unique story and needs.

My background

I’m a fully registered member of the BACP, BEFT and ICEEFT, and work within their ethical framework. I hold a double-accredited Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (CPCAB and BACP) and regularly attend specialist training to keep my practice current, ethical, and effective.

In addition to working with individuals, I am also trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples and multi-partnered relationships. EFT helps partners navigate emotional disconnection and find new ways to feel safe, seen, and supported in each other’s presence.

I support adults (18+) in North Hertfordshire, South Cambridgeshire, and further afield online. My specialist areas include neurodiversity, parenthood and planning for, gender, sexuality and relationship diversity, sex & intimacy, and trauma (inc issues related to baby loss and fertility) — though you don’t need to fit into any specific category to work with me. If you’re unsure whether I can help, a free consultation is a good place to start.

Helping you navigate.

As a therapist, I believe that no one knows you better than you. Sometimes, you might just need someone beside you as you find your way — someone who truly listens and believes in your capacity to grow and heal. That’s what I offer.

In your free 30 minute consultation, we’ll talk about what you’re hoping for from therapy, and you’ll have a chance to ask any questions about how I work. It’s a chance to see if I’m the right fit for you and your journey.

Can you imagine what it might feel like to be truly heard?
You don’t have to figure it out alone.

  • “I am so grateful to have had Jenny recommended to me. We’ve worked together for over a year now, and whilst I still have a way to go, I couldn’t have done it without her. I feel confident in the world now. I can finally cope and maintain my boundaries.”

  • “Thank you so much for helping me through the hardest of times. I was at a crossroads in my life, and no one else understood, but you allowed me the space and time to reflect at my own pace.”

  • “Jenny helped me explore the hard questions that I’d been avoiding for so long. Her patience, gentle yet firm approach coupled with who she is and her skills/ experience, makes her excellent at what she does. Thank you.”

  • Jenny has been great help with helping me learn who I am and come to terms with how I feel and understand those new feelings. Always providing a safe environment to open and feel secure that knowing that I could be honest without being judged or ridiculed. She has been patient and understanding with me and knowing when to press on a subject, let it go or to rephrase questions to help me understand where I was going wrong or confusing myself. Every session has been welcoming and comfortable with no pressure, just met with the willingness to help or just a friendly ear to listen to me vent my frustrations. I would feel more than happy to recommend her to anyone seeking help.

My approach to therapy.

I work in a non-directive and non-judgemental way. I do not advise or interpret, I can help you, but I cannot do the work for you. There are many modalities of therapy, finding the one for you is important. That’s one of the reasons I offer a free 30-minute exploratory session to see if we can work together.

Your choice of therapy, your choice of therapist. I encourage you to listen to your gut feeling when it comes to finding a therapist. I trust you to know what’s right for you.

I can’t fix your problems for you, but I can promise that you won’t have to face them alone.
